EOTD: The beginning of a very good mail week.

January 20th, 2010

Yes, I know it’s Wednesday.  But besides the Fyrinnae package I got today (squee), I’m expecting 3 more packages of samples and things in the mail.  I haven’t really gone anywhere the past couple of days due to weather, but I figured I’d try out one of the more intriguing shadows I got today.  Just eyes today, and today’s pictures are brought to you by the letters S, N, O, and W, so I’m not really able to get a good shot of the nuances of this shade.  (In fact, I’ve got about 30 failed pictures.  There probably would have been more if my camera didn’t need to be charged right about then.)

I actually attempted my waterline for once, but I think I may need to try another type of liner there.

Here’s a closeup:

You can almost see the shimmer in the lid color, but with today’s light, it photographs more like Vaseline.  You get a better idea of it in the open-eyed picture, strangely, because I used the same color under my lower lashline, and the gold comes out more there.

  • Painterly Paint Pot on lid, with a wee dab of Pixie Epoxy over it.
  • Fyrinnae Meerkat on most of lid–I left a little space on the inner corner.
  • Sassy Minerals Gossip Column (a smoky purple) in the outer corner and a bit into the outer V.
  • Fyrinnae Sakura blended into the inner corner.
  • A bit more Pixie Epoxy along my lower lashline, covered with a bit more Meerkat.
  • UD 24/7 pencil in Zero in the lower waterline, badly.  (Combine ticklishness with the fact that I just can’t get a nice dark line in there.  Next time I decide I want to line my waterline I think I’ll try a gel liner.)
  • Fyrinnae Nijiro on the browbone.  I can’t remember if I brought it down into the inner corner, or if that was all Sakura.
  • L’Oreal Voluminous on the upper lashes.  I ignore my lower lashes for the most part, unless I’m trying to do something really dramatic.

That’s it!  If I were going anywhere, I think I’d pair this look with MAC Slimshine in Long Stem Rose.  (I would quite like to link that, but apparently it no longer exists on MAC’s site!  It’s a slightly cool-toned light pink.)

I swatched what I got today (I’m particularly in love with Japan, Fruitcake, and +20 Beautification, but I had a heck of a time capturing the shimmer/sparkle.  I may try it again with electric light tonight.
